Rabies: What should I do if my dog was attacked?

What should I do if my pet has been bitten, scratched or exposed to an animal's saliva?

1. Do not touch the attacking animal.
2. Wear latex or rubber gloves and hose down your pet to remove any saliva. Do not touch your pet with your bare hands.
3. Call your veterinarian.Contact the Manchester Police Department or the Police Department of the town where the incident occured. Try to identify if the animal is domestic or wild.  Find out if domestic pet had vaccines.
